Properties

Oregano is a source of fibre. It contains volatile oils, sterols and flavonoids. It is rich in vitamin C, E, A K, magnesium, manganese, calcium, potassium, zinc, phosphorus, niacin, iron and beta-carotene. It also contains lutein, cryptoxanthin, zeaxanthin, pinene, ocimene, limonene, caryophyllene and rosmarinic acid. It is a powerful antioxidant and is considered suitable against coughs and colds, lung diseases and asthma, rheumatism and psoriasis.

Harvest

Holomon’s organic Oregano is collected from Mount Holomontas in July 2-3 days after full bloom at an altitude of 884m – 1160m. The selection of herbs is based on their growth stage. We always collect those parts of the plant that are suitable for the creation of the products, but without inactivating its growth. The suitable stems are harvested by hand and then dried in specially designed natural drying areas, without the use of environmental machinery.

Standardization

Once the drying of the herbs is completed, the stems are again hand-sorted to be taken to the standardization process, which takes place in certified, specially designed areas, with modern machinery to ensure the quality and safety of the final product.

Instructions for Use

In the Kitchen

It is used in white or red meat, fish and seafood, in salads (tomato, peasant, dacos), baked potatoes or potato salad, in legumes, sauces, roasted vegetables, traditional pies and soups.

As a drink

In a saucepan, heat 200ml or 1 cup of water and when it starts boiling, add 1 teaspoon or 2 gr of organic Oregano, then remove from the heat and leave it covered for about 5′-7′ minutes, drain and serve. Drink 1 to 2 cups a day.
