Tea tree essential oil is an earthy, fresh, woody fragrance derived from the leaves of a tree called Melaleuca alternifolia Cheel known for its effectiveness against respiratory infections, but it also has strong antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi and viruses. It is used as an antiseptic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory to fight acne and fungal infections on the feet and hands, vaginitis, herpes, insect bites, but also as a deodorant as it is said to neutralize odor. It also helps in dry scalp dryness by reducing dandruff and in the treatment of head lice.
